Quarterly Compost Giveaway - Saturday August 27th

City of Santa Monica’s Resource Recovery & Recycling Division hosts its quarterly Compost Giveaway to encourage participation in the Yard Clippings Compost Collection Program

Tons of compost made from the City’s green cart program will be given to Santa Monica residents.

WHAT:
The quarterly Compost Giveaway is a "bring your own pail" event providing free nutrient-rich compost. Compost has been recognized as a valuable soil amendment for centuries. Its use in gardens is an effective way to improve soil health, increase plant production, and reduce the use of water, chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

WHEN:
Saturday, August 27, 2011

7 a.m. until it’s all gone! (Quantities limited per resident)

WHERE:
City Yards

2500 Michigan Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90404

WHY:
The Compost Giveaway is a free event held quarterly to thank Santa Monica residents for participating in the City's Green Cart Program.  The event gives residents some of the compost they helped to create.  The program which was once yearly has been expanded to a quarterly schedule at the request of the City’s residents.
